I'm Isma Khan, BCBA.
As the first internationally certified BCBA living and practicing full-time in Pakistan, I have spent over 13 years helping children unlock their potential through evidence-based intervention, parent empowerment, and individualized support.
I am the founder of i.kare, one of Karachi’s first ABA therapy centers led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, where we specialize in helping children develop communication, independence, social skills, and confidence.
Every child is unique. Their therapy should be too.
I believe meaningful progress begins when we first step into a child’s world. When children feel understood, safe, and valued, learning naturally follows.
My approach is built on:
A Message for Parents
If you’re here, chances are you’re looking for answers.
You may be wondering why your child isn’t talking, struggling to communicate, having difficulty learning, or not reaching milestones like other children their age.
You are not alone.
Every child learns differently. Every journey is unique. And with the right support, meaningful progress is possible.
My role is not simply to teach skills. It is to understand your child, recognize their strengths, and help them build the tools they need to communicate, learn, and thrive.

Words of Wisdom
“Children on the autism spectrum are not learning disabled, they are teaching challenges. So, the question is not whether they can learn… the question to ask is, ‘Can I teach them in a way theycan understand?”

Frequently
Asked Questions
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy that helps children develop important life skills such as communication, social interaction, play, learning, independence, and daily living skills. ABA focuses on understanding how children learn and uses individualized teaching strategies to help children reach their full potential.
If your child is experiencing challenges with communication, attention, behavior, social interaction, learning, play skills, or daily living skills, ABA therapy may be beneficial. A consultation can help identify your child’s strengths, areas of need, and the most appropriate next steps.
ABA therapy looks at the whole child—including communication, behavior, learning, social skills, play, and daily living skills. Speech therapy focuses primarily on speech, language, and communication development, while occupational therapy supports sensory, motor, and daily living skills. These therapies often work together to provide comprehensive support for a child.
A common misconception is that if a child can talk, they do not have communication difficulties. However, communication is about much more than speaking words.
Some children have spontaneous speech and may talk about topics they enjoy, label items, sing songs, or repeat phrases, but struggle to request what they want, ask for help, answer questions, express their needs, or engage in meaningful back-and-forth conversation.
In these situations, the challenge may not be a speech delay but rather a difficulty with the functional use of communication. ABA therapy focuses on teaching the purpose and value of communication—helping children learn when, why, and how to communicate so they can have their needs understood, build relationships, and become more independent.
For many children, the most effective approach is a combination of ABA, Speech Therapy, and Occupational Therapy, with each discipline addressing different aspects of development.
Many children are able to speak but may struggle with functional communication. They may talk about preferred topics, repeat phrases, or label items, yet have difficulty asking for help, expressing needs, answering questions, engaging in conversation, or communicating during everyday situations.
ABA therapy helps children learn how to use communication effectively and purposefully so that language becomes meaningful, functional, and socially appropriate.
Every child develops differently. Our goal is to help children communicate in the most effective way possible. This may include spoken language, AAC systems (such as Proloquo), PECS, or sign language. Communication is always the priority, regardless of the method used.
No. You do not need a diagnosis to book a consultation or begin receiving support. If you have concerns about your child’s communication, behavior, learning, social skills, or development, we encourage you to seek guidance as early as possible. Early intervention is often more important than waiting for a diagnosis.
If you are concerned about your child’s communication, play skills, social interaction, behavior, attention, or overall development, it is always worth seeking professional guidance. Early support can make a significant difference, and we are happy to meet with families even when there is no formal diagnosis.
We primarily work with children between the ages of 2 and 10 years, focusing on early intervention and skill development during the most important years of growth and learning.
At i.kare, we support children with autism, ADHD, speech and language delays, developmental delays, Down syndrome, and other genetic and developmental conditions. We also work with children who may not have a formal diagnosis but would benefit from support in communication, behavior, learning, social interaction, or daily living skills.
The first step is to book a consultation. During this meeting, we will discuss your child’s needs, answer your questions, and determine the most appropriate support plan. From there, we will guide you through the enrollment process and recommend the best next steps for your child.
